Le ragtime a eu une grande influence sur beaucoup des premiers artistes blues qui s'essayaient à reproduire les sonorités du piano sur une guitare. Avec un rythme rapide et gaie, ce genre de musique dynamique et dansant a été joué par certains des plus grands artistes des années 30 : Blind Blake, Reverend Gary Davis ou encore Blind Boy Fuller.
